CNA exam study guide: a 7-day plan that fits around work
Seven days is enough if you practise in exam format instead of rereading a manual. The plan below assumes 25 to 35 minutes a day: one short practice test, the explanations, and the questions you missed.
The plan
| Day | What to do | Time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Take the free 25-question check. Note your three weakest domains. | 10 min |
| 2 | Practice test on your weakest domain. Read every explanation, even the ones you got right. | 30 min |
| 3 | Second weakest domain. Then redo yesterday's missed questions. | 30 min |
| 4 | Third weakest domain. Flashcard run on numbers and reflexes. | 30 min |
| 5 | Full 60-question mock exam, 90 minutes, no pauses. | 90 min |
| 6 | Review the mock. Redo every missed question until you can explain why the right answer is right. | 40 min |
| 7 | Skills rehearsal out loud, then one short practice test to stay warm. | 30 min |
Why this order works
You start with a diagnosis, not a book. The first day tells you where the points are, and every following day attacks the biggest gap. The mock on day 5 is deliberately late: early mocks feel like failure, late mocks feel like a rehearsal.
What to do with a wrong answer
Do not just read the explanation. Say out loud why each of the three other options is wrong. That is the skill the exam tests: eliminating plausible wrong answers quickly.
If your exam is in 3 days
Skip the domains you are strong in. Do one practice test per day on your weakest two domains, then one full mock the day before, and stop by 6pm. Cramming past that point costs more in fatigue than it adds in knowledge.
If your exam is in 3 weeks
Stretch the same plan: two days per domain, one mock per week, and a final week of only missed questions and skills rehearsal. Do not add more content, add more repetitions.

Is 7 days enough to pass the CNA exam?
For the written part, usually yes if you already attended a training programme. The skills test needs separate physical rehearsal.
Should I study every day?
Yes, short sessions beat one long session. 25 minutes a day for a week beats four hours on Sunday.
